Bournemouth beach Aquathlon

Last night i entered the first of two  Bournemouth beach Aquathlons this summer. As i'm racing this weekend it was only intended as a warm up so i took it very easy on the swim which was the usual punch up with the occasional flurry of swim strokes. The waves were pretty big and for the second lap we had to exit the water run round a marker and then back in the water. The swim was 600metres followed by a run across the beach to transition, so it meant sandy feet to start the run  which was 6k.

I came out of the water quite near the back and consequently was overtaking all the time on the run, which was three hilly circuits. I'm not sure where i ended up as the results are all over the place with half the field missing, a typical concept sports result which was however very enjoyable so i'll be back for the next one. Very good for a midweek workout as long as you dont try to push it. Other club members present were, Lara Lanaghan, Sarah Cook, Brian Minard and Sam Morton.

Regards

Dave Ransom
