Race Report: Sandy Balls Heartbreak Half Marathon
Report by Ian Wells
Almost perfect conditions for a race, just a little bit of ice around on the forest tracks. This was just enough for the race organisers to be very cautious and changing the course to 10.6 miles. A few members of STC were there, Tim, Nick and Kevin and produced good results. The race got off to a good start, climbing up a long hill to the main road, Nick was away and I stayed with Kevin, until the main road then the pace increased and the race was on. There are two good hills on the route which get the legs then the high track over to Frogham, which was the turn around and back. On the final hill Kevin overtook me and was running hard, could not catch him up, not bad for someone who claimed not to have done a lot of training! Results in age groups were,
Nick, 1:12:28, 7th
Kevin, 1:16:33 15th
Ian,1:17:19 4th
Tim, 1:27:00 15th.
Next weekend is the Sherbourne Half Marathon
