Tim Wilks

Tim Wilks
I was contacted by the Police Incident Room this afternoon and it is with great sadness I must pass on the news that Tim Wilks collapsed and died during the triathlon this morning.  Tim's wife and son have been informed and have gone to the hospital.
I think most of knew Tim as a genuinely lovely man with a wonderful sense of humour and honest humility - he will be missed.
I offer my condolences to his family.

I'm dumbstruck. This is really sad news. He was always very welcoming and friendly at swimming. My thoughts and sympathies are with his family.

I too am of course shocked and saddened by this news. I liked him a lot too -- his calm, dry humour was a superb and unique antidote to the tunnel vision of training and racing -- and regret now not spending the time getting to know him better.

How awful for his family: my deepest condolences to them.

I competed with him only recently and as usual the friendly greeting, the big smile were a huge lift before the race. My condolences to the family - a huge loss for them and the sport.

Tim was always so encouring to me and I just can't believe that this has happened. He was a great athlete that I admired for his simple approach; he was never puffed up with his own self importance. I am deeply upset and my heart goes out to the family.
