Tim Wilks Memorial Fun Day (Sat 16th Oct)

Tim Wilks Memorial Fun Day (Sat 16th Oct)

FIRSTLY, I NEED YOU TO REPLY TO THIS EMAIL FOR ONCE!  We have 130 members – would be nice to get 130 replies…..  there are 70+ of you who never have much to say….. Email me direct at stc@jmhr.com

If you have recently joined, you may not know that Tim Wilks,  one of our liveliest, most engaging and friendly club members died in May this year whilst competing in a race.  Those of you who knew Tim need no more reminding of what a sad loss this was to all of us in triathlon.

As a mark of respect for Tim we wanted to mark his death with a club event that gets the MAXIMUM number of club members taking part.  We have 130+ members and I would hope we can get 50+ of you involved. Far more than 50 will make me even happier.  Are you one of those people who just does swim training?  Now is the chance to take part in all three sports in an event that will be as physically demanding as you choose. This is not a race, but a chance for you to test yourself.  You don’t need a posh bike, and we will cheer each and every one of you along the way.

The Tim Wilks Day takes place on SATURDAY 16 OCTOBER.  The format is

Between 0900 and 1000, carry out a 400m time trial swim at the Quays.  We will need help from some of you to do timing and lap counting.

Between 1100 and 1230 carry out a 10 mile (16.09km) cycle time trial on the P164c course in the New Forest.  This is an informal ride, not a sanctioned time trial.

Around 1300 carry out a run time trial of around 2-3km (exact course to be agreed) at Ashurst in the New Forest (off A35 just past Totton so not far to go from the cycle route

From 1330 onwards carry out an eating and drinking event at Daryll and Linda’s house (very near the run event), inviting along your family who do so much to support your participation.  We will ask you to bring a food/drink contribution along.  There will be gazebos etc in case of rain but mid October is often a good time for cool dry Autumn weather.

Email me direct at stc@jmhr.com
