Open water swimming - update

The lakes at Eastleigh, Ellingham, Mytchett and Reading are all open but reportedly quite chilly.  I would welcome any comments or feedback from anyone who has been down, so we can try to encourage more to take part.  I love the early swims but am struggling with motivation with the weather we are having.

I went this morning.  the session is well organised and there is a support/safety canoe.  There is a £5 fee for the first visit to sign a waiver.  Subsequent sessions are £3.

The circuit is a simple ~400m which means 4 times round will exceed the Olympic distance.

But at the moment the water is cold.  notwithstanding that there are plenty of people turning up to swim.

I have been to Reading lake twice, and boy, was it cold. But hell, man up people - we're triathletes! I may go on Saturday morning again, followed by a gentle 5km jog around the lake. Any joiners?

I managed a nice little dunk down at Boscombe last Tuesday, still a little nippy on the face but not so bad once you got going!
