A slightly belated follow-up....
Somehow I managed to grab a couple of places on the starting list for this inter-club TT. On arrival it took some definite avoidance of other competitors and their unhappy faces to ensure we maintained our start times. The car park was absolutely heaving and I believe there were a few dissapointed people who didn't make the cut, not least the local speed merchant;a Mr J Jenkinson (plus some funny chap named J McCarthy). Rosie threatened to compete on her foldup bike but we decided we'd best represent STC as best as poss so the commuter was ditched in favour of her new roadie. I have been having some issues with 'wear' on my bike wheels/tyres/tube combo recently and having forgotten a spare front was left riding with a very dubious front rim running far lower pressure than would prefer (couldn't get anything more in her guv'na)
The weather proved to be pretty good and relatively warm compared to recent events but there was a slight southerly breeze that has been reflected in the times.
Overall in the results stakes New Forest CC beat their 'match' rivals Sotonia, grabbing 4 of the top 6 'club' places on the night. Only one guy went under 23mins with a reasonable spread across the rest of the timesheet. I squeezed into 6th overall with a 24:47 and Rosie was just outside the 30min mark on her new stead.
On reflection, it should be remembered that any TT results should be viewed relative to the other times posted on the night rather than say the previous TT times on same course - in which case a 23 min ride this week, in the same conditions as 2 weeks ago (which was fast) would have scored a 22min result.
Next TT outing will be New Forest CC 25 miler on P164/25 course on Tuesday evening. 1900 start. Get your calls in to Margaret to avoid dissapointment!
