If you are interested in improving your cycling - time trials are a great way to test out new bikes, position, cadence......

Distance vary from 10 - 100 miles and fall into 2 categories - Club and Open events.

Club event you enter on the night ~ 30 mins prior to the start (~ £3-4), Open events you enter ~ 2 weeks in advance and get a results sheet, official time etc (~ £7.50/rider).

Full details are on the websites, www.southdc.org.uk is the local one. Or ask Linda, Darryl........

Linda has picked out the essential events - ie those run by Southampton tri club or BDWCA - open to all club members.

The BDWCA is targeted at novices and ladies - (men / fast people very welcome) - so come along a try a time trial. They also run several 2 ups - so line up your partner for the August and September events.

(A word of explanation - Linda is the Chairlady to BDWCA, so very keen to promote their events - happy to share lifts and provide directions)

The spreadsheet also lists those in the local areas - ie Southampton(P1xx courses), Bournemouth(P3xx courses) and Portsmouth(P8xx).

Note the Open 25 mile time trial on the 13th May. Good fast course near Poole Harbour. See Linda or the website for an entry form. CTT handbooks. Linda has 3 copies left of the 2012 CTT handbook - gives details of the Open events, previous winners and extra cycling details. Cost £10. (Officially £9 + postage, works out to £10 a copy)

Contact Linda on linda@marcus-hanks.co.uk to reserve a copy. Thanks Linda.

I have made my own by securing with a twisty tie, rubber band or string around the middle of a bunch of that horrible nylon parcel/box cable. (The stuff that you cant destroy or fold it's about 1cm wide and is often used for securing boxes commercially). I just kept folding a length of it over several times to be the same length as my water bladder and tied it in the middle. You can then squish it up to get it in the bladder and it springs out once inside to stop the bladder sticking together and so drying it off in no time. I mop the water that is left in the bottom with a paper towel. I leave the cable in there once dry before putting it away until I fill it with drink the next time around. Hope you find this a helpful tip

Monday Musical Motivation

How's this for musical motivation!
